Arts & Crafts Elm Settle Bench Hall Seat Pew Antique Furniture 144cm
A handsome Arts & Crafts elm settle of slightly convex form, with shaped end supports, small open arms and elongated tapering sledge feet with exposed dowel construction. A well-proportioned piece with strong, simple lines typical of the period.
This is the sort of piece that works well in a hallway, boot room, landing or period interior. It has a solid, practical feel without being overly decorative.
The elm has a warm tone with attractive grain throughout, particularly across the seat and shaped ends. The exposed construction details are typical of the Arts & Crafts movement, a style that continues to be very popular.
Condition
Solid and usable overall with age-related wear, surface marks, scuffs and signs of use in keeping with age. There are historic splits, marks and old imperfections to the timber, all of which add to its character. Signs of historical woodworm are present, but we treat everything regardless. Overall, it presents well and has a lovely timeworn look.
