I want to be upfront about something: I am a grown adult with a dedicated shelf for Funko Pop! figures, and I have absolutely no intention of apologising for it. The shelf is in my home office. It faces my desk. It is, objectively, the best thing in the room, and it has been a work in progress for three years.

Poison Ivy had been on my list since the beginning. She's one of DC's most visually distinctive characters — the green, the botanical motifs, the particular combination of beauty and menace that makes her one of Batman's most compelling adversaries. But I'd been waiting for the right figure. Not every Funko Pop! captures a character equally well, and Poison Ivy is one where the details matter.

The official DC Comics branding is also worth noting. There are a lot of unofficial and unlicensed collectibles in this space, and the quality difference is usually immediately apparent. This is an authentic Funko Pop! with official DC licensing, which means the sculpt is accurate, the branding is correct, and it sits properly alongside other official figures in a collection.
The Moment It Arrived
It came well packaged — the box arrived in perfect condition, which matters more than it might sound when you're collecting. I took it out, held it for a moment, and then placed it on the shelf between Harley Quinn and Catwoman, which is where it had always been going to go.
I sat back and looked at the shelf. Three years of deliberate, patient collecting, and it finally looked the way I'd imagined it when I started. The villain lineup was complete. Poison Ivy, characteristically, looked like she owned the place.
My partner, who has tolerated the shelf with good humour throughout its construction, walked in, looked at it, and said "that does look good, actually." High praise. I'll take it.
On Collecting Deliberately
I want to say something about the way I collect, because I think it's relevant to why this figure mattered as much as it did. I don't buy Funko Pops! impulsively or in bulk. I buy one when a character I care about has a figure that captures them well, and I wait until that combination exists rather than settling for something close. It means my collection grows slowly, but every piece on that shelf is there because it earned its place.
The Poison Ivy figure earned its place. It's been on the shelf for two months now and I still notice it every time I sit down at my desk. That's the test, for me — whether a piece continues to reward attention after the novelty has worn off. This one does.
