When Series 1 Wasn’t Enough — My Deddy Bears Series 2 Bag Clip Story

I completed my Deddy Bears Series 1 bag clip collection in February. All eight characters, acquired over about five months of mystery blind bags, with the particular satisfaction of the final reveal — opening the last pack and finding the one character I'd been missing, which was Vambear, who had been eluding me for three months and who I was beginning to think I'd never get.

I put all eight on my shelf in their blind bag packaging, took a photo, sent it to the two friends who had been following the collection progress, and felt the particular mixture of satisfaction and mild deflation that comes with completing something you've been working toward. What now?

Series 2, as it turned out. Six new characters, same format, same mystery blind bag experience. I ordered my first one the same week I completed Series 1.

Why Series 2 Rather Than Just Stopping

This is a reasonable question and I want to answer it honestly. The Deddy Bears bag clip format works on me in a specific way that I've thought about since I started collecting Series 1. It's not just the characters — it's the combination of the mystery format, the wearable design, and the quality of the plush that makes each new series worth engaging with.

The mystery blind bag format means that completing a series is genuinely satisfying in a way that simply buying the characters you want isn't. You earn the completion through the process of opening packs and seeing what arrives. When Series 2 launched with six new characters, it wasn't just six new things to own — it was a new process to go through, a new set of reveals to experience, a new completion to work toward.

I also, if I'm honest, just wanted more Deddy Bears clips. I have them on my backpack, my tote, my keys, and my camera bag. There is room for more.

What’s Different About Series 2

The Deddy Bears Series 2 Mystery Blind Bag has six characters rather than Series 1's eight, which means the collection is slightly more achievable but the individual characters are slightly rarer in any given run of packs. The characters themselves are the Series 2 lineup — Two-Fur, Frostbite, Frankenbear, Dolli, Muertobear, and Zombat — which I already knew from the coffin plush range and which I was glad to see translated into the bag clip format.

The 10cm size and integrated clip are consistent with Series 1, which means Series 2 clips sit alongside Series 1 clips without any scale inconsistency. If you're building a collection across both series, they work together as a unified display or a unified daily carry without any visual mismatch.

The quality of the plush is consistent with Series 1 — the same soft material, the same character detail, the same secure clip mechanism that I've been relying on for months without any failures. PLAINANDSIMPLE didn't cut corners on Series 2 to capitalise on Series 1's success, which is the thing I was most concerned about and which turned out not to be a concern at all.

The First Series 2 Reveal

I got Muertobear in my first Series 2 pack, which felt like a good omen — Muertobear is one of my favourite characters in the range and getting him first felt like the collection was starting well. He went straight onto my camera bag, which is where he's been since.

My two friends who had been following the Series 1 progress are now following the Series 2 progress. One of them has started their own Series 2 collection. The other is still working through Series 1 and has asked me not to tell them which Series 2 characters exist yet, because they want to experience the reveals without knowing what they're looking for. I respect this approach. It's the correct approach.

On Collecting in Series

I've been thinking about why the series format works so well for the Deddy Bears range, and I think it comes down to this: a series has a defined endpoint. You know what completion looks like. You can work toward it with a clear goal in mind, and when you reach it you have the satisfaction of a finished thing. Then a new series starts and you have a new goal.

This is a very effective structure for a collectible range, and the Deddy Bears execute it well. The characters are distinct enough across series that each new set feels genuinely fresh rather than like a minor variation on what came before. Series 2 doesn't feel like more of the same. It feels like the next chapter.

My Verdict

If you've completed Series 1 and you're wondering what comes next — it's this. If you're new to the Deddy Bears bag clips and you're not sure which series to start with — start with whichever one calls to you, because both are excellent and both will lead you to the other eventually. The Deddy Bears Series 2 Mystery Blind Bag is in our Toys collection and our wider Toys & Games collection. Vambear took me three months. I hope yours is kinder.
