The Dressing Table Problem
My dressing table is small — a vintage piece I found at a market and restored, which I love. What I didn't love was what it looked like most mornings: rings scattered where I'd taken them off the night before, earrings in various states of pairing, a necklace draped over the mirror, a lip balm, a hair clip, a watch, and the general accumulation of small objects that migrate to the nearest flat surface and stay there.
It wasn't a disaster. But it wasn't the calm, considered space I wanted it to be.
