The Controller That Made Our Campervan Solar System Actually Work: My Honest Experience with the Victron Energy SmartSolar MPPT 100/30

I converted a panel van into a campervan over the course of eighteen months. Installation was straightforward for anyone with basic 12/24V electrical knowledge. The terminals are clearly labelled, the wiring is logical, and the Victron documentation is thorough. I had it installed and connected in about two hours, including the time spent routing cables neatly.

I opened the VictronConnect app as soon as the system was live. The controller appeared immediately via Bluetooth. I could see the panel voltage, the battery voltage, the charge current, and the charging state in real time. After six months of flying blind with the cheap controller, seeing actual data was almost emotional.
